As a trained and Certified Sex Addiction Therapist & Supervisor (CSAT-S), I have the necessary training and experience to help you identify and understand underlying causes of the behaviors, improve your relationships and begin to heal from the impact of these problematic behaviors. Treatment Philosophy
I use an integrative approach to counseling and a combination of methods to help individuals work towards recovery and repair damaged relationships. Using the Addiction Model as a framework, grounded in the TASK-Centered of Dr. Patrick Carnes, approaches include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Solution-Focused Therapy, Family Systems Approach and Person-Centered Therapy. With over 35 years experience in the behavioral health field, I began to specialize in the treatment of sexual addiction in 1997 while employed at the Meadows Treatment Center in Wickenburg, Arizona where I had the good fortune to work directly with Dr. Patrick Carnes, the pioneer of the sex addiction field.
I continued my work in sex addiction as a clinician at the STAR Program in Bryn Mawr, PA, where I have been since 2000. I am a foundational member of the Advisory Board for the certification of sex addiction therapists and have published numerous articles on this topic and contributed chapters in the Clinical Management of Sexual Addiction (2002) and The Routledge International Handbook on Sexual Addiction (2018).
I am Professor Emerita in the School of Psychology & Counseling, Graduate Programs in Counseling at Caldwell University, and previously full-time faculty in the Department of Counselor Education at Kutztown University and a Fulbright Scholar.I am licensed in Pennsylvania, Delaware and New Mexico.
