Group Counseling

Tasks Recovery Group 
​A 10-week Intensive Group Counseling Focus for Persons in Early Recovery from Problematic Sexual Behavior that runs on an as needed basis several times per year. 

This 10-week focus group combines a psycho-educational model with traditional group counseling for those in early recovery for problematic sexual behavior.  The aim is to help solidify gains already made while tackling the challenges of ongoing sobriety and recovery.  We use a structured, multi-modal approach based on the pioneering work of Dr Patrick Carnes called the TASK Centered Approach.  

These Tasks are presented in a homework and group fashion. Goals of this group include: (a) abstinence from bottom-line behaviors and growing capacity to manage stressful situations that trigger acting-out behaviors; (b) relationship skill building; (c) establishing a plan for healthy sexuality and intimacy; (d) exploring family of origin influences; (e) determining lifestyle changes that deepen commitment to long-term recovery.
